Summary

A solid read。 I enjoyed that there were some smaller mysteries to go along with the main mystery which kept me interested。 And while I figured out one of the main twists, it wasn’t much before the author started to hint to it。 Overall, a good suspenseful novel (but not the kind where you can’t get to sleep at night)。

Paula Hess

Good suspense read with an ending that surprised me。

Expertly balances a wildly propulsive story with wonderfully nuanced characters all within a tricky narrative structure, which I flew through in a single sitting。 The well-rounded characters making compromised choices, reflect the longing so many of us have to be able to choose differently mid-stream。 Wonderfully thought-provoking, and deeply comforting。

Fast-paced and keeps you turning the page。

Clair, wife of a rich, abusive, powerful husband has had enough, and is planning to get away。 Plans are changed out from under her the day of her escape。 Then she unexpectedly meets up with Eva - also trying to escape something。 They switch identities, swap airplane flights and hope to get away。 But then Clair's original flight, going to Puerto Rico crashes。 Was Eva on it or not? Back story of both women, how they got where they are, mixed with Clair trying to stay hidden and avoid her husband。 Clair, wife of a rich, abusive, powerful husband has had enough, and is planning to get away。 Plans are changed out from under her the day of her escape。 Then she unexpectedly meets up with Eva - also trying to escape something。 They switch identities, swap airplane flights and hope to get away。 But then Clair's original flight, going to Puerto Rico crashes。 Was Eva on it or not? I enjoyed the suspense。 So real that drama that some people live!

Elizabeth

Exciting thriller with strong women fleeing from very different lives。

A real dragSo slow, so boring。 I’m really surprised about the high reviews。 It took me 5 weeks to finish when I can normally finish a book in a few days。 I just couldn’t get into it and dreaded reading it but thought eventually it would get better。 It doesn’t。

The suspense kept me glued to the book。 I liked both of the main characters and was fascinated how their lives were so intertwined。 The author is a great story teller。 This was a very original story with lots of twists and turns。

3。5 stars。 This book grabbed me in the beginning and I didn’t want to put it down。 I was psyched for a page turner! I was riveted by Claire’s story and her escape from her life but as soon as Eva came on the scene, the book kinda lost steam for me。 Started as a 5, but overall, 3。5。

Peggy

Had me guessing until the last sentence。 Could not put it down。

This was the kind of can’t-put-it-down suspense novel I always hope they will be but am often disappointed。 A great plot and strong female characters with plenty of twists and turns。 Highly recommend。

Honestly, I was a bit disappointed in this book until about two thirds of the way through。 It seemed a bit predictable and I didn't connect very strongly with any of the characters。 Then suddenly things picked up and there were several plot twists that were so well executed I abandoned everything else I had planned and just read through to the end。 Honestly, I was a bit disappointed in this book until about two thirds of the way through。 It seemed a bit predictable and I didn't connect very strongly with any of the characters。 Then suddenly things picked up and there were several plot twists that were so well executed I abandoned everything else I had planned and just read through to the end。 。。。more

Claire and Eva meet at an airport and exchange boarding passes and identities, each wanting to disappear from their lives。 Good read。

A story of two desperate women whose paths cross。 One storyline telling of Eva's life leading up to their meeting, the other telling of Claire's life after their meeting。 Many twists and turns in the book, a page turner right up to the end。 Read it! This book was wonderful! I had to stay up till I finished it。

A well-written, compelling novelWhile The Last Flight had plenty of twists, the crisp writing, character development and realistic dialogue made it a cut above most novels in the suspense genre。 A fast-paced, fun read。

Mixed feelings on this one。 The thriller itself was fine。 I really liked how Clark explored female relationships and the #MeToo era。 That was the strength of the book。 It should be a 4 star read but。。。*minor spoilers *There’s an adoption angle that plays a big part with a main character。 I think Clark handles it ok。 Just ok。 She talks about the difficulty of feeling safe and trustworthy and I get it。 But the bad behavior of a person is implied it’s due to abandonment issues。 And that’s just too Mixed feelings on this one。 The thriller itself was fine。 I really liked how Clark explored female relationships and the #MeToo era。 That was the strength of the book。 It should be a 4 star read but。。。*minor spoilers *There’s an adoption angle that plays a big part with a main character。 I think Clark handles it ok。 Just ok。 She talks about the difficulty of feeling safe and trustworthy and I get it。 But the bad behavior of a person is implied it’s due to abandonment issues。 And that’s just too close to my cranky zone。 Adoptees and foster children have a tough time; they don’t need their feelings exploited to justify sinister motives。 That’s what gives me pause with this one。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 The book started off well, with an intriguing premise but quickly slowed and became totally implausible。 I felt some things were too much of a stretch to have worked out as they did (such as Danielle piecing together where Claire was hiding out, for example)。Had to grind my way through as was expecting a much more interesting wrap up including a scene with Claire and her abusive husband and then a clever ending, but neither happened so felt unsatisfied at the end。

I guess when you read a book in only a few days and find it hard to walk away when you do, it warrants a relatively high rating 。。 for that reason, I'll call this one a strong 3 stars with just enough to get the 4th one on a generous Saturday。 Regardless of a plot line that's a bit old and done before, the story is pulled off rather well。 The female leads are portrayed as strong and independent personalities so that aspect was refreshing 。。 too often authors paint them as weak and helpless victi I guess when you read a book in only a few days and find it hard to walk away when you do, it warrants a relatively high rating 。。 for that reason, I'll call this one a strong 3 stars with just enough to get the 4th one on a generous Saturday。 Regardless of a plot line that's a bit old and done before, the story is pulled off rather well。 The female leads are portrayed as strong and independent personalities so that aspect was refreshing 。。 too often authors paint them as weak and helpless victims of their own bad choices。 It has some nice plot twists and character surprises along the way too。 Overall worthy of a quick and satisfying read。 。。。more
